Difference Between Installable & Portable Softwares
Installable Softwares
Pros:
It automatically creates shortcuts for the software that you install.
Cons:
It creates files & settings and spreads them all over your system and sometimes when you uninstall the software, it does not completely remove these files & settings taking unnecessary space on your system.
If you dual/triple boot then you have to install it again in the second/third OS and all your settings will be lost.
To transfer it from one PC to another PC, you will have to install it again in the other PC and all your settings will be lost.
Portable Softwares
Pros:
It stays in its own folder and does not spread files & settings all over your system so you can easily uninstall it by deleting its folder.
If you dual/triple boot then you don't have to install it again in the second/third OS and all your settings will be preserved.
You can easily transfer it from one PC to another PC through your thumb drive and all your settings will be preserved. (Therefore, the name Portable)
Cons:
You have to manually create shortcuts for the software.
